What are CCs & Affiliates
Two Ways to Be a Part of URI in North America

What is a CC?
Interfaith Cooperation Circles (CCs) are the heart of URI. Independently organized, self-governing and self-funding, they build cooperation among people of all faiths and traditions to address the most pressing issues facing their collective communities, including poverty, religiously motivated violence, environmental degradation and more.
Cooperation Circles vary widely. While one circle might meet regularly to exchange stories, meals and conversation in order to deepen interfaith understanding, another might exist to address a specific community need. Yet another might work to create interfaith educational opportunities. Circles can be created “from scratch” or from existing organizations that support the URI Preamble, Purpose, and Principles.
Examples of CC activities in North America include:
- Big Sunday Weekend by SARAH – the Spiritual and Religious Alliance for Hope CC in Orange County, CA: an annual multi-faith campaign to bring faith communities together for one weekend in a unified campaign to address needs in their local communities.
- Caring for Creation Conference by Orange County Interfaith Coalition for the Environment CC also in Orange County, CA: An annual gathering of environmental and interfaith activists focused on building a world of ecojustice.
- Muncie Interfaith Fellowship in Muncie Indiana, which is allied with the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies of Ball State University, holds monthly interfaith dialogue meetings, worship services, and triennial community dinners to foster understanding and create fellowship among people of many faiths.

What is an Affiliate?
The Affiliate program was designed for the individual or for the interfaith, faith, or peace building group which may not want to be a Cooperation Circle but would still like to be part of the growing URI network.
